Yesterday, HRH The Queen, accompanied by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, was invited to open The Co-operative Group’s new headquarters in central Manchester.
Having been the brand consultants for the 100 million pound state-of-the-art complex, we were honoured to be asked to create the building plaque and site tour graphics for its official opening. The landmark building, dubbed the world’s greenest, has a number eco-friendly features including a rainwater harvesting and recycling system, and a heat recovery system.
For the plaque, we opted for a bamboo laminate to highlight The Co-operative’s sustainable credentials which we set against a glass totem in keeping with the building’s iconic architecture; and for the Queen’s tour, we produced life-size, freestanding graphics for each of the company’s businesses, encapsulating their principles in a simple yet engaging way.
The day was a huge success for The Co-operative Group and everyone involved in bringing the project to fruition and we are very proud to have been part of that success.
